Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair
Mass Airflow Sensor (G70)
Removing
- Disconnect electrical harness connector at the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor.
- Open the clamp on the air guide hose and disconnect the hose from the MAF sensor.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the MAF sensor from the guide on the air filter upper section.
Installing
Observe the following to ensure the MAF sensor functions correctly.
• If the air filter is very dirty or soaked, dirt particles or moisture may have contaminated the MAF sensor and may be causing false mass airflow values. This results in a reduction of power, since a lower injection quantity is calculated.
• Always use an original air filter.
• Always replace damaged rings.
• Use a silicone-free lubricant when installing the air guide hose and seal.
• Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type, refer to the Parts Catalog.
- Check the MAF sensor and air duct hose (intake air side) for salt residue, dirt, and leaves.
- Check the intake channels up to the air filter for dirt. If any contaminants are discovered, clean the air filter housing upper and lower section of salt residue, dirt and leaves. Wash or vacuum if necessary. Air filter housing, removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Filter ] Service and Repair
- If the air filter was removed, check the water drain - arrow - in the lower section of the air filter housing.
- Align sealing ring in air filter housing nut and carefully slide the MAF sensor into air filter housing.
Further installation is performed in reverse order.
