Injector Quantity Calibration and Injector Pressure Calibration, Performing an Adaptation

The "injector quantity calibration" and the "injection pressure calibration" correct the injection quantity for each cylinder individually in the common rail system over the entire characteristic map.

The 7-digit adaptation values - 1 - are stamped on each injector. The specification in the illustration is just an example. The stamped values can be letters and/or numbers (ASCII Code).

Table for Reading the Injector Marking.

When replacing an injector, the "injector quantity calibration values" and the "injection pressure calibration" for the new injector must be programmed into the Engine Control Module (ECM).

If the ECM is replaced, then the "injector quantity calibration values" and the "injection pressure calibration" must be transferred into the new ECM.

The adaptation procedure is described in Guide Fault Finding. The procedures are also described in Guided Fault Finding.

Check all the other injectors as well regarding their "injector quantity calibration" and "injection pressure calibration" to make sure all comparison values have been entered correctly. If the correct comparison value has been stored in the ECM, then these comparison value must never be re-entered.
