A-Pillar Lower Trim







A-Pillar Lower Trim

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Removing

- Remove bar piece. Refer to => [ Bar Piece Overview ] Bar Piece Overview.

Driver side only






- Pull the hood release lever - A - in - direction of arrow 1 -.

At the same time, the operating lever is guided out of the guide in lower A-pillar trim - C -.

- Insert a small screwdriver into gap between operating lever - A - and clip - B -.

- Pry clip - B - out of operating lever - A -.

- Then remove operating lever from mount in mounting bracket in - direction of arrow 2 -.

Procedure for both sides of vehicle

Remove sill panel - D - from the sill in the transition area from the B-pillar to the lower A-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Sill Panel Trim Overview ] Service and Repair.

Driver side

- Remove screws - arrows -.






Passenger side

Here, a clip is installed instead of a screw - arrow -. Remove clip.

Procedure for both sides of vehicle

- Remove the lower A-pillar trim from the body with the (3409).

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

If trim clamps remain in body mounting points, remove these and insert them in trim.

Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Driver side

- Tighten the screw - arrow -, refer to => [ 2.0 Nm ] A-Pillar Trim, Lower Overview.






Passenger side

Here, a clip is installed instead of a screw - arrow -. This clip must be installed.

Procedure for both sides of vehicle

- Secure the sill panel on the sill. Refer to => [ Sill Panel Trim Overview ] Service and Repair.

- Install the door seal lip over the lower A-pillar trim.

- Install bar piece. Refer to => [ Bar Piece Overview ] Bar Piece Overview.

Driver side only

- Slide clip all the way into operating lever.

- Push operating lever onto mount in mounting bracket and lock the operating lever.

Ensure clip engages with audibly.

- Before closing hood, check function of operating lever and release.
