Front Subframe: Description and Operation
Subframe, Securing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)
• Locating Pins (T10300)
For certain assemblies on the vehicle, subframe or complete front axle must be removed. For installation, the original position of the subframe can be retained by using (T10300). Always install locating pins just prior to lowering subframe or complete front axle.
• In order to insert locating fixtures, engine must be completely supported.
• Support 3.6L FSI engine completely with engine support bridge => [ Affects Vehicles with 3.6L FSI Engine ] Service and Repair.
• Support 4.2L FSI engine completely with engine support bridge => [ Affects Vehicles with 4.2L FSI Engine ] Service and Repair.
• Support 3.0L TDI engine completely with engine support bridge => [ Affects Vehicles with 3.0L TDI Engine ] Service and Repair.
- Remove bolts - 2 -.
- At these two points, thread in (T10300) up to marking - B - by hand.
- Tighten the locating pins to 30 Nm while counter holding the sleeve at the flat areas using an open-end wrench to prevent it from turning.
Position of subframe is now secured.
Removal of (T10300) is performed in the reverse order of installation.
