Airbag Control Module J234

Removing

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery with the ignition on.

- Remove center console. Refer to => [ Center Console ] Center Console.

- Remove the bracket for the center console. Refer to => [ Center Console Front Bracket ] Center Console Front Bracket.

- Remove the rear air channel.

- Fold the floor covering on the airbag control module back, and cut the floor covering open along the floor covering if you need to.






Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Slide the retainer - 7 - on the connector in the - direction of the arrow -.

- Press the release button - 6 -, opening the retainer - 5 - on the connector and remove the electrical connector - 4 -.

- Remove the nuts - 1 through 3 - and remove the airbag control module - A - from the threaded pins.

Installation

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again. Refer to Vehicle diagnostic tester.

After replacing the airbag control module (J234), it must be coded. Refer to Vehicle diagnostic tester.

The airbag control module (J234) is grounded via the housing with the body.
