Parking Brake Control Module: Service and Repair






Electromechanical Parking Brake Control Module

Installed Position

In the back of the luggage compartment on the right side, behind the right cover.






Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1410)

Removing

- Remove the side trim panel in the back of the luggage compartment on the right side.

There may be an additional bracket for other control modules, depending on the engine.

The electromechanical parking brake control module (J540) is installed under the bracket.

In this case the bracket must be removed.

- Remove the nuts.

- Slide the electrical connector lock - 2 - forward.






- Remove the electronic parking brake control module - 1 - with the plug connector.

- Disconnect the connector from the electromechanical parking brake control module.

- Remove the electromechanical parking brake control module from the vehicle.

Installing

- Connect the connector - 2 - to the electromechanical parking brake control module.






- Slide the retainer on the connector back and lock it.

There may be an additional bracket for other control modules, depending on the engine.

The electromechanical parking brake control module is installed under the bracket.

In this case the bracket must be installed. Nuts on the bracket 3 Nm.

- Insert the control module.

- Install the nuts and tighten to 3 Nm.

- If the electronic parking brake control module is replaced, select the "Replace" function for the respective control module in "Guided Fault Finding" using the (VAS 505 x).
