Front Information Display Control Head (J685) with Mounting

The Front information display control head (Display) is located in the center of the instrument panel.

It is necessary to bring the front information display control head into its service position before removing it.

Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.

Removal

- Remove the center touch screen trim from the instrument panel.

- Remove the instrument panel vent from the center of the instrument panel.

Two screws for the mounting will also be removed when the center vents are removed.

Pay attention to the wire routing to the display inside the instrument panel. It will not be possible to extend the display again if the wiring is routed incorrectly during installation.

- Remove the screws - 2 - and pull the front information display control head - 1 - out of the instrument panel until the connectors on the back of the control head are accessible.






- Remove the clip - 4 - first, then disconnect the display connectors - 1 - and - 3 - and finally remove the clip - 2 -. Disconnect the engine connector - 5 -.






- Remove the front information display control head all the way out of the instrument panel.

Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Be sure to guide wires from the front information display control head to the wiring harness and Information electronics control module 1 (J794) exactly - arrows - otherwise the front information display control head will not extend out.






- First install the clip in the center - 2 -, then connect the display connector - 1 - and - 3 - and then install the rear clip - 4 - and finally connect the engine connector - 5 -.

- Push the front information display control head back into the instrument panel and tighten the screws - 2 -.






After installing the center vents, align everything and tighten the screws.
