Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module J136/J521

Memory seat/steering column adjustment control module (J136) / passenger memory seat control module (J521)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trim removal wedge (3409)

Removing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

- Attach front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Installing Front Seat on Fixture For Seat Repair VAS 6136.

- Disconnect the connectors - 2 to 5 - from the control module - 1 -.






• The number of connectors may vary depending on the equipment. The description shows the version with the most equipment.

- Unclip the tabs - 6 - using a trim removal wedge (3409).

- Carefully remove the control module - 1 - from the retainers - arrow -.






- Disengage the hooks - 2 - and - 3 - on the bracket - 4 - and remove the control module.

Installation

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

• Observe all measures when installing the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

• The memory seat/steering column adjustment control module must engage audibly in the brackets.
