Condition
The customer may report the fuel filler door does not open or close properly.

Technical Background

Fuel door actuators have been replaced under the condition noted above; however, the analysis results were inconclusive as to the root cause of the failure.

Production Solution

No changes to production have been made, as no issue has been identified.

Service

Audi of America is requesting your cooperation in supplying us with technical information regarding this condition.

1. Verify the customer complaint by attempting to latch/unlatch the fuel door by pressing on the fuel door. Note whether it: a) functions normally, b) will not open, or c) will not latch closed.





2. With the fuel door open, press the fuel door actuator with your finger, and also note whether it: a) functions normally, b) sticks in the retracted position, or c) does not latch (Figure 1).

3. If the vehicle is within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, steps 1 and 2 have been performed, and results are typed into TACS, contact a TAC consultant before proceeding.
