Hood Release Cable Assembly Overview






1 Right hood latch

• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Hood Latch Assembly Overview ] Hood Latch Assembly Overview

2 Hood latch cable

• Removing

- Disconnect the release cable at the coupling.

- Pull the release cable through to the engine compartment.

• Installing: in reverse order.

• Adjust the hood latch point of release.

3 Left hood latch

4 Hood release lever

• Disengage the release cable.

5 Cable coupling

- Disengage the release cable inside the passenger compartment before removing the lock carrier and when removing the operating lever.

6 Cable

• Release cable to the operating lever in the vehicle interior.

7 Grommet

• Make sure it fits correctly when installing it. The grommet must be pushed all the way into the bulkhead.

Release Cable Coupling






- Remove the rear release - 1 - and front - 5 - release cables from the clips - 4 - on both sides.

- Unlock the retainers - arrows - and slide the coupling to the rear and out of the bracket.

- The retainers must audibly lock into the bracket for the hook.

Attach Release Cable into Coupling






- Install the release cable - 1 - into the roller - 3 - inside the passenger compartment as illustrated.

- Press the release cable into the mount on the housing.

- Install the housing cover - 2 - so that the arrow points toward the release cable inside the passenger compartment - 1 -.

- Turn the knurled piece - 4 - to adjust the release cable.

Release Cable, Engaging in Lid Lock






- Install the release cable nipple - 2 - into the release lever - right arrow - on the hood latch - 1 -.

- Install the release cable and the guide into the hood latch from underneath. Make sure the hooks - left arrow - latch into place.

Operating Lever Cover, Removing

2 Lower A-pillar trim

3 Retaining clip

• Press in completely, it must engage.

4 Operating lever cover

• Before removal, first disengage cable in coupling in engine compartment.

• Pry the clip out of the operating lever.

• Remove the cover sideways from the operating lever.

Operating Lever, Removing






1 Operating lever mounting bracket

• Operating lever cover removed

• Lower A-pillar trim removed

• Remove screws - 3 - and disengage control cable - 1 -.

2 Clip

3 Release cable

• Clip the cable bracket into the mounting bracket as shown in the magnified section of the illustration.

4 Screws

• 2 Nm

Engage Release Cable in Operating Lever






- Install the release cable - 2 - into the operating lever - 1 - in direction of arrow.






- Move the release cable - 2 - upward as illustrated and clip it into the bracket - 1 -.

Release Cable, Routing in the Interior






- Route the release cable - 2 - along the A-pillar as illustrated

- Press the grommet - 1 - onto the A-pillar from the interior.

Release Cable, Routing in Engine Compartment






- Route the release cable - 2 -, starting from the passenger compartment, inside the engine compartment and along the fender flange - 3 - as illustrated.

- Push the grommet - 1 - into the A-pillar.

- Slide the coupling - 4 - onto the lock carrier.
