Audio System - CD Cannot Be Ejected

Affected Vehicles

Condition
A CD cannot be ejected or the eject button does not work - vehicles equipped with radio plus.

Technical Background

The CD eject function may be disabled. This feature can be enabled/disabled through a Guided Functions program "5F-Eject button, lock/unlock (RG. 91)".

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service

Verify that a CD is in the drive unit.





1. In Guided Functions select 5F Information Electronics 1 (RMC MOST) J794.





2. Select Read Measuring Values.





3. Select Done to continue with test plan.





4. Select measuring value block 51, line 3 and then press the Done button.





5. Press the Read button.





6. If the fourth bit from the right is 1 (red arrow), then a CD is in the drive unit.





7. If the last bit from the right is 1 (red arrow), then a CD is not in the drive unit.

If a CD is in the drive unit, check status of the CD eject button (locked/unlocked).





1. Select Eject button, lock/unlock.





2. Select Done to follow test plan.





3. Select Yes to unlock the eject button.

If the eject button is unlocked and a CD cannot be removed, replace the information electronics unit (5F).
