Rear Lid Seal

For vehicles through MY 2011, the butt joint on the body flange must be sealed as well when replacing the rear lid seal.

Removal:

- Remove the rear lid end piece trim panel.

- Secure the rear lid from falling down and disconnect the gas-filled strut on the body side from the left and right ball studs.

- Remove the seal from the flange on the body all the way around.

- When installing, align the seal to the upper marking- arrow - and then press it onto the flange all the way around.

In addition, seal the body flange

- For vehicles through MY 2011, the butt joint on the body flange - arrows - must also be sealed with sealant (D 476 KD7 A3) when replacing the rear lid seal.
