Windshield Wiper Motor with Wiper Motor Control Module, from 06.2008
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pry lever (80-200)
Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Service Precautions.
The Wiper Motor Control Module (J400) is integrated in the windshield wiper motor.
Removing
Danger of damaging the plenum chamber cover.
• Coat the transition between the windshield and cowl panel trim - 2 - with some soapy water and carefully pull the cowl panel trim vertically out of the retainer on the windshield beginning at the edge of the window.
- Remove wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms.
- Remove the spray nozzles - arrow -.
- Push the spray jet with the lines connected through the opening in the plenum chamber.
- Remove the seal - 1 -.
- Remove plenum chamber cover - 2 - by carefully removing cover from retainer on windshield.
Danger of damaging the paint.
• Protect the suspension strut dome from scratches with adhesive tape.
- Turn the wiper arm linkage - 4 - until it is parallel to the body.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 5 -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Pull the wiper frame with the linkage and wiper motor - 1 - far enough forward until the retaining pin - 2 - no longer is inside the mount - 3 -.
- Remove the wiper frame with linkage and the wiper motor from the plenum chamber.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Install the wiper frame - 1 - with linkage and the wiper motor into the plenum chamber; when doing this, the retaining pin - 3 - must fit into the mount - 4 - on the body - arrow -.
- Tighten the screws - 2 - and - 5 -.
- Adjust wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting.
