Input Shaft Overview

• Attach transmission to assembly stand. Refer to => [ Transmission, Securing to Assembly Stand ] Transmission, Securing to Assembly Stand.

• When installing new gears, consult technical data. Refer to => [ Code, Transmission Allocation, Ratios and Capacities ] Code, Transmission Allocation, Ratios and Capacities.

• Lubricate all bearings with gear oil when inserting on input shaft.






1 Securing Ring

• For the grooved ball bearing/input shaft

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Transmission without Cap/Input Shaft Retaining Ring Assembly Sequence ] Transmission Without Cap/Input Shaft Retaining Ring Assembly Sequence

2 Washer

• Outer diameter = 78.6 mm

• Only insert with the changed transmission housing (from transmission production date 4.10.06 through approximately 1.20.08), refer to => [ Grooved Ball Bearing Changes ] Grooved Ball Bearing Changes

• Allocate components shims, refer to the Parts Catalog.

3 Transmission Housing

• Adapted in the grooved ball bearing seat area - item 6 - => [ (Item 6) Grooved Ball Bearing ] and washers - item 2 - => [ (Item 2) Washer ] and - item 4 - => [ (Item 4) Washer ] from transmission build date 4.10.06 through approximately 1.20.08, refer to => [ Grooved Ball Bearing Changes ] Grooved Ball Bearing Changes.

• Approximately from transmission build date 21 01 8, to prevent the flat areas on the grooved ball bearing and the bearing seat on the grooved ball bearing from turning, refer to => [ Grooved Ball Bearing Changes ] Grooved Ball Bearing Changes

• Allocate components shims, refer to the Parts Catalog.

4 Washer

• Outer diameter = 85 mm

• Only insert with the changed transmission housing (from transmission production date 4.10.06 through approximately 1.20.08), refer to => [ Grooved Ball Bearing Changes ] Grooved Ball Bearing Changes

• Allocate components shims, refer to the Parts Catalog.

5 Securing Ring

• Must be determined again when replacing grooved ball bearing - item 6 - => [ (Item 6) Grooved Ball Bearing ] or input shaft - item 8 - => [ (Item 8) Input Shaft ] => [ Determining Circlip ] Input Shaft

6 Grooved Ball Bearing

• Always replace

• Pulling off, refer to => [ Pulling Off Grooved Ball Bearing ] Input Shaft

• Pressing on, refer to => [ Pressing on Grooved Ball Bearing ] Input Shaft

7 5th Gear Wheel

• Pressing off, refer to => [ Removing the 5th Gear Wheel ] Input Shaft

• Installation position: The circumferential groove - arrow - faces toward the grooved ball bearing - item 6 - => [ (Item 6) Grooved Ball Bearing ]

• Pressing on, refer to => [ Pressing on 5th-Gear Gear Wheel ] Input Shaft

8 Input Shaft

• With 3rd/4th and 6th gear wheels

9 Roller Bearing

• With circlip

• Pulling out, refer to => [ Pulling Cylindrical Roller Bearing Off Clutch Housing ] Input Shaft

• Installing, refer to => [ Pressing Cylindrical Roller Bearing into Clutch Housing ] Input Shaft

• Installation position: Circlip in bearing faces toward input shaft
