Selector Lever Emergency Release From Park Position, With Selector Lever Boot, Activating From 11.2009
Selector Lever Emergency Release from Park Position, with Selector Lever Boot, Activating from 11.2009
• The selector lever lock solenoid (N110) locks the selector lever in the position "P". The selector lever can be shifted out of "P" with ignition on or motor started, separate brake pedal and pressed button on the selector lever head. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] Selector Mechanism, Checking.
• If voltage supply to selector lever lock solenoid is missing (battery discharged, fuse faulty) or the solenoid is faulty, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of the "P" position. For example, the vehicle cannot be moved because the parking lock is engaged.
If this is not the case:
- Check fuses.
- Check the battery voltage.
If the selector lever still cannot switch out of "P", the emergency release of the solenoid can be executed. If the selector lever is then switched back into "P", this is locked again in position "P".
Procedure
- Remove the side of the selector lever boot with a flat blade screwdriver or with the trim removal wedge (3409) and pull it upwards - arrow - to the handle for the selector lever. In order to loosen it, the (3409) must go on the lower edge of the side.
- Fold up the selector lever boot.
- Release the shift lock solenoid with the screw driver from the vehicle tools - arrow -.
The selector mechanism function unit can only be replaced complete. This means if components of the selector mechanism function unit are damaged, it must be completely replaced.
• The selector mechanism is displayed in the illustration for a better illustration of the selector lever without a handle. The handle for the selector lever, however, does not need to be removed to use the emergency release.
- Now press the button on the selector lever head with released solenoids and shift the selector lever out of "P".
• If the selector lever is not switched back into "P", the solenoid for the shift block will be automatically blocked in the position "P". The solenoid must be released again.
