Front Side Airbag Crash Sensor


Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

Follow the safety precautions for front side airbag crash sensors (pressure sensors).

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

2 Crash Sensor for Front Side Airbag

Driver side: Driver Side Airbag Crash Sensor (G179)

Passenger side: Front Passenger Side Airbag Crash Sensor (G180)

Removing

- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off.

- Remove door trim. Refer to => [ Front Door Trim ] Front Door Trim.

- Disconnect electrical connector - 4 - on crash sensor.

- Remove the screws - 1 - and - 3 -.

- Remove crash sensor for front side airbag.

Installation

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Note the following:

For proper crash sensor (pressure sensor) function, ensure door does not leak.

All components (for example, cover, speaker, door trim) must be installed correctly.

The door trim panel clips seal the system. Replace the clips, if necessary.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.

If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
