Filling with Fuel after Installing High Pressure Pump


Letting the high pressure pump run dry will destroy it.

• The high pressure pump must be filled with fuel before starting the engine for the first time. Do not let the high pressure pump run dry.

• When installing the high-pressure pump, make sure that no dirt enters the fuel system.

• Only remove the sealing plugs right before installing the fuel lines.

• The fuel tank must be filled.

To fill the high pressure fuel pump with fuel, proceed as follows:

- Connect a vehicle diagnosis tester.

- Switch ignition on.

- Select "engine electronics" in OBD.

- Then select "basic setting".

- Select "display group 35".

- Press the "activate" button.

- The fuel pumps start.

- The fuel pumps must run for approximately 1 minute to make sure the high pressure pump is sufficiently filled with fuel.

- Start the engine after filling the fuel system.

- Let the engine run for a few minutes at an average RPM and then shut it off.

- Check fuel system for leaks.

- Erase the fault stored in the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory using the vehicle diagnosis tester.

- Perform a road test where the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down at least one time. Then check the high pressure area again for leaks.

• If there is still air in the fuel system, the engine may switch to emergency mode during the road test. Turn off the engine and erase the DTC memory. Then continue the road test.

- Check the DTC memory.
