High Mounted Brake Lamp
Removing
• The upper rear lid trim only needs to be unclipped at the upper edge and bent away to remove the high-mount brake lamp.
• To prevent the upper rear lid trim from breaking, it must not be colder than 20 °C. Warm the trim slightly with a hot air gun if necessary. This applies especially to older vehicles.
- Unclip the upper rear lid trim at the upper retaining clips and bend it away.
- Using long needle nose pliers, gently compress all the latches - 1 - - arrows -.
- Beginning on the right side, push the high-mounted brake lamp out of its opening in the rear lid.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 2 -.
• The connector can be disconnected only when the high-mounted brake lamp is removed.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• In case of defective LEDs, the complete high-mount brake lamp must be replaced.
- To install, pull all the latches - 2 - in - direction of arrow -, the spring - 1 - must be tensioned.
- Connect the electrical connector and insert the high-mount brake lamp in the rear lid opening.
- Press center high-mounted brake lamp into opening until retainers engage.
- Install upper rear lid trim.
