A/C Compressor Belt Pulley, Zexel/Valeo Overview
A/C Compressor Belt Pulley, Zexel/Valeo Overview
• Observe notes for removing belt pulley for compressor manufactured by Denso version 1, these also apply to this A/C compressor. Refer to => [ Belt Pulley, Denso Version 1 ] Belt Pulley, Denso Version 1.
• Perform any preliminary work as described for removing belt pulley on compressor manufactured by Denso version 1. Refer to => [ Preparation ] Belt Pulley, Denso Version 1.
• On A/C compressors with part number 1K0 820 803 as of index N, the drive plate splines are bonded to A/C compressor shaft splines, removing drive plate, refer to=> [ Belt Pulley, Zexel/Valeo ] Belt Pulley, Zexel/Valeo.
• On A/C compressors with part number 1K0 820 803 up to index L, the drive plate splines are not bonded to A/C compressor shaft splines. On these A/C compressors it may be possible that the drive plate splines are worn off and the A/C compressor is no longer driven. Refer to => [ Belt Pulley, Zexel/Valeo ] Belt Pulley, Zexel/Valeo. In this case, check the A/C compressor for freedom of movement and if necessary replace drive plate, use the repair set 1K0 898 814. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA) to do so.
• Beginning the production year 2006, the name of the Zexel A/C compressor was changed from Zexel to Valeo.
1 Screw
• Tightening specification 17 Nm
• Replace
• To loosen and tighten bolt, hold belt pulley firmly in place using a standard band wrench (with webbing).
• Clean threads on A/C compressor shaft (and on bolt if necessary) of old thread locking compound before screwing on.
• Install the bolts with thread locking compound (for example, D 000 600 A2). Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.
2 Screw
• Tightening specification 7 Nm
• To loosen and tighten bolt, hold belt pulley firmly in place using a standard band wrench (with webbing).
• Clean threads on A/C compressor shaft (and on bolt if necessary) of old thread locking compound before screwing on.
• Install the bolts with thread locking compound (for example, D 000 600 A2). Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.
3 Drive Plate
• The overload protection takes over when the torque is excessive (for example, if the A/C compressor runs with resistance) and the belt pulley runs freely without driving the A/C compressor.
• With rubber element for decoupling belt pulley from A/C compressor driveshaft (damps vibrations and noise).
Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
• If drive plate has already been replaced once in customer service and was bonded at that time using sealing compound D 154 102 A1, it may be joined so securely to the compressor shaft that it can no longer be pressed off. Refer to => [ Belt Pulley, Zexel/Valeo ] Belt Pulley, Zexel/Valeo, in this case the entire compressor must be replaced.
4 Circlip
• Replace
• Install on proper side, beveled insertion edge - A - faces away from A/C compressor (install flat side facing the A/C compressor).
• When installing circlip, note that it cannot be bent open more than is necessary for installation.
5 Belt Pulley
• Clean A/C compressor flange before sliding on pulley.
6 A/C Compressor
• Different versions may be installed, depending on engine version and country version of vehicle. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
• Clean A/C compressor flange before sliding on pulley.
