Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair






Parking Brake Cable

Removing

- Release parking brake.

- Remove the rear ashtray from the center console.

- Fold the trim piece (under ashtray) out toward the rear.

- Loosen the adjustment nut - 2 - so far that the parking brake cable can be unhooked from the compensator.






- Pry off the securing clip - 1 - for the brake cable.






- Press brake lever - 2 - in direction of - arrow - and unhook parking brake cable - 3 -.

- Remove bolt - 1 - and remove parking brake cable - 2 - from bracket of brake cable.






- Unhook the parking brake cable - 1 - and pull it out of the guide shaft.






Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, with special attention to the following:

- Push parking brake cable into the guide shaft - 2 - and hook it onto the hook - 1 -.






- Install parking brake cable - 2 - on rear axle beam.






- Press parking brake lever - 2 - in direction of - arrow - and hook in the parking brake cable - 3 -.






- Press on the securing clip - 1 - for the parking brake cable.

- Engage parking brake cable - 1 - into compensator bracket - 3 -.






- Pretension the parking brake cable using the adjustment nut - 2 -.






- Adjust parking brake. Refer to => [ Parking Brake, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
