Removing
• Identify connectors before disconnecting to prevent confusion or for better allocation.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off.
- Remove driver side storage compartment. Refer to => [ Driver Side Storage Compartment ] Driver Side Storage Compartment.
- Remove glove compartment. Refer to => [ Glove Compartment ] Glove Compartment.
- Unclip switch trim.
- Remove cupholder/storage compartment. Refer to => [ Cupholder or Storage Compartment in Center Console ] Cupholder or Storage Compartment in Center Console.
- Remove the emergency flasher switch.
- Remove left and right switches.
- Remove the ASR/ESP button.
- Remove the radio.
- Remove Climatronic Control Module (J255) (A/C Control Head).
- Unclip storage compartment trim - 6 -.
- Unclip storage compartment cover - 7 -.
- Remove grab handles - 10 - and - 11 -. Refer to => [ Left and Right Grab Handle ] Left and Right Grab Handle.
- Remove instrument panel - 9 -. Refer to => [ Instrument Panel ] Instrument Panel.
- Remove screws - 2 - (quantity: 3).
- Remove center section - 5 -.
Installation
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
- Follow assembly sequence:
- Guide center section - 5 - into central tube - 1 -.
- Install bolts - 2 - but do not tighten.
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.
- Install instrument panel - 9 -. Refer to => [ Instrument Panel ] Instrument Panel.
- Tighten bolts - 2 - to the specification.
- Install grab handles - 10 - and - 11 -. Refer to => [ Left and Right Grab Handle ] Left and Right Grab Handle.
- Make sure the airbag unit connector engages completely (audibly) with coupling on airbag unit.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.

Removal and installation of center section - 8 - is same as removal and installation of center section - 5 -. Instead of "chorus" or "concert" radio, "symphony" radio is removed and installed.
