Selector Mechanism, Performing Emergency Release
If voltage supply to selector lever lock solenoid is missing (battery discharged, fuse faulty) or the solenoid is faulty, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of "P" for example the vehicle cannot be moved because the parking lock is engaged.
- Check fuses
- Check the battery voltage.
- If no malfunction is found in the voltage supply, perform selector mechanism emergency release as follows:
- Unclip the selector lever boot and remove it - arrows -.
- Stretch the selector lever boot upward over the handle.
- Push the lever - B - toward the inside with a screwdriver - 1 - - arrow - and hold it in this position. This unlocks the shift lock solenoid - A -.
• The solenoid releases the selector lever.
- With solenoid released, press the button on selector lever handle and shift selector lever out of "P".
• If selector lever is shifted back into "P", it is mechanically locked in "P" by the selector lever lock solenoid and it must be released again.
