Starter

Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Contact Corrosion.

Removing






- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (ND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Disconnect Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor (G70) electrical connector - 2 -.

- Remove the air guide hose - 1 -.

- Remove upper part of air filter housing - 3 - and remove air filter insert.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove air duct.






- Remove lower part of air filter housing - arrows -.






- If equipped, remove the cable tie for the protective boot.






- Disconnect the electrical connector - 4 - by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.

- Fold back the boot - 5 - and disconnect the B+ wire - 6 - from the solenoid switch.

- Remove the screws - 1 - and - 2 - and then remove the starter - 3 - upward.

Installing

• Tightening specification. Refer to => [ Starter Overview ] Service and Repair.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Install the air filter housing.

- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
