Condition
^ Oil found in intercooler.

^ Gap in cylinder head cover baffle, or baffle loose.

Technical Background





The plastic welded sections of oil splash shield part of the cylinder head cover (Figure 1, blue area) may have gaps between them at the weld point, or may feel loose (Figure 2 and Figure 3). Extensive testing has confirmed that this condition does not cause any problems and is not a defect.

Up to 0.20 quarts of oil in the intercooler are within normal conditions and do not require further action.

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service
^ Do not exchange the cylinder head cover under this condition, as warranty will be declined. Gaps in this part are not a defect.

^ Up to 0.20 quarts of oil in the intercooler are within normal conditions and do not require further action.

^ If more than 0.20 quarts of oil are found; continue looking for other sources (e.g. crankshaft breather valve, turbo charger, oil overfill, etc.).
