Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
Crankshaft Shaft Seal, Belt Pulley Side, Replacing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Seal Remover (3203)
• Counter Support (3415)
• Assembly Tool (T10053)
Procedure
- Toothed belt, removing. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] Toothed Belt.
- Remove the toothed belt crankshaft sprocket bolt using the (3415).
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and then remove the toothed belt sprocket crankshaft - 2 - and the diamond disc - 3 -.
- Install the toothed belt crankshaft sprocket bolt by hand all the way into the crankshaft for guiding the seal remover.
- Unscrew inner part of the (3203) nine turns (approximately 20 mm) from outer portion and secure with knurled-head bolt.
- Lubricate the seal remover threaded head, position it, and then install it into the shaft seal as far as possible using strong force.
- Loosen the knurled screw and turn the inner portion against the crankshaft until the seal is pulled out.
- Remove the toothed belt crankshaft sprocket bolt.
- Secure the seal remover in a vise at the flat spots and remove the seal using pliers.
- Clean the shaft seal running and sealing surfaces.
- Remove oil residue on crankshaft pins using a clean cloth.
- Position guide sleeve (T10053/1) on crankshaft pin.
- Slide the shaft seal over the guide sleeve onto the crankshaft pins.
- Install the seal and toothed belt crankshaft sprocket bolt and pressure sleeve from the (T10053) flush.
- Install the crankshaft toothed belt sprocket. Refer to => [ Crankshaft Toothed Belt Sprocket, Removing

- Install toothed belt (adjust timing) => [ Installing (Adjusting
valve timing) ] Toothed Belt.
