Condition
Customer statement: Engine warning light on.

Entry: P1057 and/or P1060 Exhaust camshaft control circuit, bank 1 and/or bank 2, open circuit.





Workshop findings: On the plug the camshaft adjuster the wire terminal is broken off (Figure 1).

Technical Background

Mechanical load (vibrations) on the wire terminal.

Production Solution

Not Applicable.

Service

1. Replace both terminals in the plug with the repair cable 000 979 019 E. As a result, the cable cross section is reduced from 1.0 mm sq. to 0.5 mm sq., minimizing the load on the contact because of the lower cable mass.





2. Place the two crimp connectors 000 979 941 in the area shown in Figure 2, green circle.
