Seat Occupied Recognition Passenger Airbag Deactivation Seat Belt Latch, Replacing

• The passenger occupant detection system seat belt latch is only installed on the passenger seat.


• Replace the passenger occupant detection system seat belt latch each time the passenger belt tensioner deploys.

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components General Safety Precautions ] .

Removing

- Remove the front seat.

• Manual seat, refer to => [ Driver Seat Overview ] Driver Seat Overview.

• Memory seat, power seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Driver Seat Overview ] Driver Seat Overview.

- Disconnect the wiring harness at connector - 2 - that leads to the wiring harness of the Passenger occupant detection system control module (J706) and the clip at the seat.






- Remove screw - 4 - which secures seat belt latch - 1 - and remove the seat belt latch.

Installation

Installation is in reverse order of removal, noting the following:


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components General Safety Precautions ] .

- Ensure cable is secured in position - 3 -.

• If the seat belt latch of the passenger occupant detection system for front passenger airbag deactivation is replaced, fill out the system registration sheet with the serial number and bar code label from the new seat belt latch and send it to the importer.
