AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
^ MIL illuminated on a model year 2011 Audi Q7 TDI clean diesel.
^ DTC codes completely missing on the VAS test tool when accessed through GFF. A test plan cannot be started.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
DTC codes may not be displayed on the VAS test tool through GFF due to a communication issue between ECM and Gateway. A change in the ECM software is required.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
New software in development.
SERVICE
1. If the DTC is not displayed through GFF or no test plan can be initiated, attempt to unselect and re-select the 01 - Engine Electronics (UDS) field during the Vehicle System Test while in Guided Fault Finding. This should force the test tool to recognize the fault status of the ECM and allow a test plan to be started.
2. If unsuccessful, read the code using Vehicle Self Diagnosis or Generic Scan Tool Services.
3. If further assistance is required to diagnose or complete the repair, open up a ticket with the Technical Assistance Center.
