Starter

Removing

- Turn off the ignition.

- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Remove the strut tower.

- Remove the right engine mount.

- Remove the front exhaust pipe.

- Disconnect the catalytic converter and move it to the side.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and the turbocharger support.






- Remove the nut - 1 - and free up the ground wire on the engine support.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the right engine support.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - for the wiring bracket - 2 -.






- Disconnect the electrical connector - 3 - by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.






- Remove the terminal 30/B+ wire - 2 - from the starter.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 4 - and the starter.

- 1 - can be reached from above.

Installing






Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Starter Overview ] Service and Repair.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:


There is a risk of damaging the starter.

To tighten the bolts - 2 -, insert the spacer sleeve - arrow - between the starter and transmission.

- Install the engine support and the right engine mount.

- Install the turbocharger support.

- Install the catalytic converter and front exhaust pipe.

- Install the strut tower.

- Connect battery. Required actions, refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
