Vehicle Information

Condition

Customer may report:

^ One Daytime Running Light (DRL) intermittently flickers.

^ One Daytime Running Light (DRL) intermittently lights up with more intensity then dims back to normal.

The headlight beams still function normally.

Technical Background

The LED DRL control unit's PWM output reacts to an intermittent system voltage change, causing the LED to flicker or change intensity. DTCs will not be logged in the vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (09). The customer complaint can only be sporadically reproduced.

Production Solution

New LED DRL control units will be released for Audi Q5s through Model Year 2012. The affected part number is 8R0907472A.

Service

Do not replace the LED DRL control unit until a revised part is available.

1. Explain to the customer that a solution is forthcoming and that no repairs are necessary at this point. Do not replace any components for this condition since this will not resolve the customer's concern.

2. Create a PSS record in the PSS application via the hyperlink in Accessaudi.com (Figure 1) or Technical Assistance page in Elsa (Figure 2).
