Transmission Mount
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Engine Support Bridge (10 - 222 A)
• Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror (80 - 200)
Removing
- Move the selector lever into "P".
- Turn off the ignition.
Vehicles with a 2.0L TFSI Engine:
- Disconnect the connector - 1 - on the mass airflow (MAF) sensor (G70).
- Unclip the air intake connection - front arrows -.
- Remove the engine cover - rear arrows -.
Vehicles with a TDI CR Engine:
- Remove the engine cover - arrows -.
- Remove the air filter housing.
All Vehicles:
Risk of destroying electronic components when disconnecting the battery.
• Observe measures for disconnecting battery.
- Remove battery.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the battery carrier.
- Remove the hood seal from the lock carrier and from the fender edge.
- If required, release the seal clip with the (80 - 200) and open up the seal.
- Set (10 - 222 A) on the bolted fender flanges (vehicles until 05.2008) or the steel plate (vehicles after 05.2008), as shown in the illustration.
• A 2.0L TDI engine is shown in the illustration.
- Disconnect any hoses and line connections in the area of the (10 - 222 A) lifting eyes on the engine.
- Attach the spindle carabiner hooks to the lifting eyes.
- Tension the engine/transmission assembly with the spindles, but do not lift.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and loosen the transmission support from the transmission mount.
- Lower the engine/transmission assembly slightly with the spindles.
- Remove all required parts in order to reach the bolts - 1 -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 -.
- Remove the transmission mount - A -.
Installation
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Subframe Mount Overview ] Subframe Mount Overview.
• Replace bolts that are tightened to the specification.
- Install the transmission mount - A -.
- Install the transmission mount with new bolts - 1 -.
- Use the spindle of the engine support bridge to lift the transmission up until the transmission support contacts the transmission mount support arm.
Before installing the bolts - arrows -, the transmission bracket and transmission mount support arm must be absolutely parallel, otherwise the threads will be damaged. If necessary, use a floor jack to raise the rear of the transmission.
- Check the subframe mount adjustment.
- Fasten the transmission mount support arm to the transmission support using new bolts - arrows -.
- Install battery carrier and battery.
- Install the air filter housing.
