37 Delayed accelerator response; shuddering from a stop or when coming to a stop

Affected Vehicles

Condition

The customer may report a delayed accelerator response, shuddering when pulling away and/or shuddering shortly after stopping or almost stopping (changing down from 2nd to 1st gear).

TCM software update and possible loss of clutch adaptation.

Service

1. Determine whether RVU 37F1 is still open for the vehicle. If the RVU is open, please perform the RVU immediately.

2. If the RVU is no longer open, compare the software level in the vehicle to the level listed in the column "New Software Version" in the SVM table below.

^ If the software level is lower than listed in the SVM table below, update the gearbox software.

^ If the software is already at the latest level and there is a customer complaint that matches this TSB, follow the directions below titled Transmission Basic Settings and Clutch Adaptation.

SVM Update Instructions

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

2. Update the transmission control unit using the SVM action code as listed in the table below, if the software has not already been updated to this level while performing RVU 37F1.





3. After the SVM update follow the directions below titled Transmission Basic Settings and Clutch Adaptation.

Transmission Basic Settings and Clutch Adaptation

1. Ensure the VAS tester is at software version 16.16 or higher.

Tip: To perform this repair, the VAS tester must be at software version 16.16 or higher.





2. In GFF or Guided Functions, select Transmission Electronics, functions >> Basic Setting.





3. Select and perform the Calibration of Gear Position Distance Sensors -G487- to G-490- .

4. When finished, the test plan will ask if there are more basic settings you would like to perform.

Select Yes.





5. Select and perform the test plan Adaptation of clutch slip points (kiss points).

6. After completing the test plan, exit basic settings and return to Function/Component Selection.





7. Select Transmission Electronics, functions >> Adaptation drive. Follow the directions in the test plan to adapt the clutches.

8. When the adaptation drive is complete, perform a test drive to confirm the concern is gone.
