AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
^ The "Sport differential" warning light (Figure 1) is illuminated in the instrument cluster.
^ The following DTCs are stored in the sports differential control unit (address 22):
^ DTC C1004F0 (Below torque tolerance in left clutch).
^ DTC C1005F0 (Below torque tolerance in right clutch).
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Optimized sports differential from serial number MKL0000034M100611.
SERVICE
Carefully perform guided fault finding for the above entries and make any necessary repairs.
^ If the DTCs are gone after completing the guided fault finding, carry out a thorough test drive. If there is no entry, continue to observe the vehicle if necessary.
^ If the DTC is stored again after the test drive, check the build date of the differential.
The build date of the differential is stamped on the bottom of the passenger side of the housing (Figure 2, Point 2).
The build date of the differential in Figure 1 is:

^ If the build date is before 6/11/2010, replace the rear differential according to the repair manual.
^ If the build date is 6/11/2010 or later, please create a Technical Assistance Center (TAC) ticket and call a TAC consultant.
