Outer Window Shaft Strip
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• 3 x removal hook (T40219)
Removing
- Open the window.
- Door trim removed..
- Remove the exterior rearview mirror. Refer to => [ Mirror Adjusting Unit Mount ] Mirror Adjusting Unit Mount.
- Before the window shaft strip - 1 - can be removed, first disconnect it from the door hooks - arrows - - 2 -.
- Insert the first removal hook (T40219) on the mirror triangle between the outer window shaft strip and door window.
- 1. Move the removal hook (T40219) toward the rear to dimension c.
- 1. Pull the removal hook (T40219) upward and slide it into place into the window shaft strip.
• The edge of the removal hook (T40219) must be visible.
- Insert the second removal hook (T40219) between the door window and the window shaft strip near the B-pillar.
- Move the second removal hook (T40219) to dimension b and fit it in from underneath.
- Insert the third removal hook (T40219) near the B-pillar move it to dimension a.
* The specified dimensions on the window shaft strip are measured starting at the B-pillar.
• Dimension - a - = 135 to 170 mm.
• Dimension - b - = 360 to 395 mm.
• Dimension - b - = 605 to 640 mm.
- Gently push the removal hook (T40219) outward and release the window shaft strip.
- Pull the window shaft strip upward starting at the B-pillar.
- Do the same with the second and third removal hook (T40219).
- Remove the window shaft strip completely.
Installation
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
• The outer window shaft strip must be pressed on by hand completely beginning on the door at the B-pillar.
- Install the exterior rearview mirror. Refer to => [ Mirror Adjusting Unit Mount ] Mirror Adjusting Unit Mount.
