Headrest Guide
Removing
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove front seat:
• Standard and Sport Manual Seat. Refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seats ] Manual Standard Front Seats.
• Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seats ] Power Standard Front Seats.
- Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136.
- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] Backrest Cover.
- Remove the headrests. Refer to => [ Headrests with Locking Mechanism ] Headrests with Locking Mechanism.
- Remove the backrest cover and cushion. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Cushion ] Backrest Cover and Cushion.
Headrest guide without release button:
- Press the retaining tabs - arrows - on the headrest guide - 1 - toward the center of the headrest guide.
- Hold the retaining tabs down.
- Pull the headrest guide up out of the backrest frame - 2 -.
Headrest guide with release button:
- Press the retaining tabs - arrows - on the headrest guide - 1 - toward the center of the headrest guide.
- Hold the retaining tabs down.
- Pull the headrest guide up out of the backrest frame - 2 -.
Installation
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
Headrest guide without release button:
• When sliding the headrest guide - 1 - in, make sure the tab - 3 - engages correctly on the backrest frame - 2 -.
• Make sure the retaining tabs - arrows - are engaged in the backrest frame - 2 - correctly.
Headrest guide with release button:
• When sliding the headrest guide - 1 - in, make sure the tab - 3 - engages correctly on the backrest frame - 2 -.
• Make sure the retaining tabs - arrows - are engaged in the backrest frame - 2 - correctly.
Continuation for headrest guide without and with release button
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on. Refer to.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
