Convertible Top Latch Assembly Overview






1 End plate

• Removing, refer to => [ End Plate ] End Plate.

2 Screws (Qty: 4)

• 9 Nm

3 Convertible Top Lock

• The locks on the convertible top are preset above the locking rods and do not need to be adjusted.

4 Grommet

• Mounted to the back of the motor

5 Convertible Top

6 Convertible top latch motor

• Removal, refer to

• Centering, refer to

7 Convertible Top Latch

8 Bolt

• 9 Nm

9 Bolt

• 10 Nm

10 Bolt

• 15 Nm

Removing the front trim

- Remove the screws - 5 - and - 6 - on the front trim - 7 - on the front rail - 1 -.





- Unclip and remove the trim.

- Remove the screws - 2 - to remove the center trim - 4 -.

- The trim - 3 - for the C-pillar flap is not a replacement part and is attached to the convertible top headliner, refer to => [ (Item 8) C-pillar Flap ] Convertible Top Headliner Assembly Overview.

Convertible Top Lock, Removing

- Front trim removed.

- Loosen the convertible top headliner at the front rail.

- Mark the location on the convertible top lock - 2 - and on the front rail - 1 - - arrows - before removing.





- Unlock the mount - 2 - for the microswitch - 1 - on the convertible top lock and remove it upward.





- Release the locking spring - 1 - and remove the linkage rod - 2 - from the ball pin on the convertible top lock - 3 -.





- Press the linkage rod onto the ball pin when installing.

- Remove the screws - 2 - (Qty. 4) and remove the convertible top lock - 1 - from the front rail - 3 -.





- Install the convertible top lock - 1 - on the mark made earlier and tighten the screws in sequence a, b, c and d to the tightening specification, refer to => [ (Item 2) Screws (Qty: 4) ].

1 Convertible Top Locking Motor

• Remove the drive before removal

2 Convertible Top Latch Motor

• Front rail trim removed

• Rear roof guide trim removed

• Loosen the convertible top headliner at the front rail. Refer to => [ Loosen the convertible top headliner at
the front rail and remove the screws on the retaining
strip. ] Convertible Top Headliner.

• Removing, refer to

3 Bolt

• 9 Nm.

4 Bolt

• 10 Nm.

5 Electrical Connection

6 Grommet

Center the Drive for the Convertible Top Latch

- Open and close the drive using a 6 mm hex socket wrench.

- The drive will center itself and the screws must be tightened to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ (Item 3) Bolt ].

Convertible Top Latch Motor, Removing

- Remove the trim on the front rail.

- Disconnect the motor connectors.

- Release the locking spring - 1 - and remove the linkage rods for the drive.





- Remove the screws - 2 - and then remove the drive - 3 - and motor.

Remove the motor from the drive





- Remove the drive - 1 -.

- Remove the screw - 2 - and remove the motor from the drive.
