Selector Lever Cable
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror (80 - 200)
Removing
• Before removing the selector lever cable, secure a wire on the selector lever cable so that it can be routed easily when installing.
- Remove the selector mechanism function unit. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Function Unit ] Shift Mechanism Function Unit.
- Push the rubber grommet - arrow - forward and out of the function unit.
- Remove the rear noise insulation - 2 -.
Vehicles with a 4.2L Engine
- Remove the heat shield bolts - arrows - and shield for the selector lever cable.
Vehicles with a 3.0L Engine
- Remove the particulate filter.
- Remove the bolts - 1, 3 and 4 - from the heat shield.
- Turn the heat shield slightly to the side.
• Ignore - 2 -.
Continuation for All
- Remove the ball head - 2 - on the selector lever cable from the selector lever shaft using (80 - 200).
- Remove the clip - 1 - and the selector lever cable from the transmission.
• Do not bend the selector lever cable.
Installing
Install in reverse order, pay attention to the following:
Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Overview ] Description and Operation.
- Secure the selector lever cable to the wire that was guided in during removal.
- Guide the selector lever cable and rubber grommet - 3 - through the hole inside the selector mechanism function unit lower section - 1 -.
Selector lever shaft must not be bend when pressing the selector lever cable on, counterhold if necessary.
- Carefully press the selector lever cable - 2 - onto the selector lever shaft.
- Secure the selector lever cable to the bracket with a new clip - 1 - on the cable bracket.
- Install the rubber grommet - arrow - around the selector lever cable in the selector mechanism function unit lower section.
- Install the selector mechanism function unit. refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Function Unit ] Shift Mechanism Function Unit.
- Adjust the selector lever cable, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Service and Repair.
Vehicles with a 3.0L Engine
- Install the particulate filter.
