Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Socket and Key (T40031)
Procedure
- Remove the frame for the selector lever boot - A - - arrows -.
- Move the selector lever into the "S" position.
• The adjusting bolt is only accessible when the selector lever is in the "S" position.
• Loosen the bolt approximately 1 turn - do not remove it completely!
- Loosen the selector lever cable adjusting bolt approximately 1 turn using (T40031).
- Carefully move the selector lever forwards and backwards slightly without shifting to a different selector lever position.
• This loosens the selector lever cable.
- Turn the ignition on.
The two following conditions must be fulfilled:
• The "S" in the "PRNDS" display in the transmission range display (Y6) must be lit.
• The "S" inside the selector lever transmission range position display (Y26) must be lit.
If the conditions are not fulfilled:
- Tighten the adjusting bolt - arrow - for the selector lever cable in this position using (T40031).
- Check the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory and correct any faults using Guided Functions in the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
- Check the adjustment of the multifunction transmission range switch (F125). Refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
- Again afterward adjust the selector lever cable.
If the conditions are fulfilled:
• When tightening the adjusting bolt, the selector lever must not be moved forward or back or the adjustment will be incorrect.
- Tighten the bolt - arrow - for the selector lever cable using (T40031).
The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal.
