Headliner






Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pry Lever (80-200)

• Special Hook (3370)

• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Removing

- Remove the driver seat.

- Remove upper A-pillar trim on right and left. Refer to => [ Upper A-pillar Trim ] Upper A-pillar Trim.

- Remove C-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper C-Pillar Trim ] Upper C-Pillar Trim.

- Remove D-pillar trim. Refer to => [ D-Pillar Trim ] D-Pillar Trim.

- Remove bolt - 2 - and remove center sun visor - 1 -.





- Disengage sun visor - 1 - in center of vehicle from sun visor center bracket.





- Remove cover cap - 3 -.

- Remove the bolt - 2 -.

- Swing visor bearing down and remove sun visor.

- If present, disconnect vanity mirror lighting connector.

- Unclip sun visor center bracket cover - arrows 1 -.





- Pull sun visor center bracket out - arrow 2 -.

- If equipped, carefully pry vanity mirror light out of cut-out - arrow - with flat screwdriver.





- Disconnect electrical connector.

- Carefully remove reading light cover with (3370).





- If applicable, disconnect the connection - 1 - from the hands-free microphone.





- Remove bolts - arrows -.





- Tip front interior light/reading light down and remove it from vehicle headliner.

- Disconnect electrical connectors.

- If present, release clips - arrows - and remove Interior Monitoring Sensor (G273) - 1 - from interior light/reading light.





• Ignore - 2 -.

- If present, disconnect electrical connector - 1 - on BOSE sound system interior microphone - 2 -.





- Open roof grab handle cover - 1 - with (3370).





- Remove the screws - 2 - and - 3 -.

- Remove roof grab handle.

- Using (3370), carefully remove rear interior light/reading light from vehicle headliner.





- Disconnect electrical connector.

- Adjust passenger's seat as follows:

• Move seat all the way forward

• Backrest in reclined position

- Remove luggage compartment floor trim.





- On vehicles with all wheel drive, remove left foam insert - arrow - in luggage compartment.

- Remove bolts - arrows -.





- Remove left tie-down eye.

• Shown on vehicles with all wheel drive in the illustration.

- Remove rear lid seal from body.





- Tape off metal edges at places marked with - arrows -.

Vehicles with sunroof:





- Clean (80-200) to avoid soiling headliner.

- Front sunroof opening: slide the (80-200) between the frame - 1 - for the sunroof opening and the headliner - 2 - until it locates of the 15 clips - 3 -.

- Release clips ones after the other with (80-200) as shown in illustration - arrow -.

- Rear glass roof opening: close glass roof opening masking panel.





- Let (80-200) slide along between mounting frame - 2 - for glass roof opening and headliner - 1 - until it locates one of the 15 clips.

- Release clips - 3 - one after another with (80-200) as shown in illustration.

All:

• Headliner must not be kinked; kinked headliner must be replaced.

• 2 technicians are needed to disconnect the last connections and remove headliner.

- Remove the screw - arrow - in front interior light/reading light roof opening, if applicable.





- Release clips on rear clip - arrows -.





- Remove headliner - beginning at C-pillar - from door seal rubber lip - arrow 1 -.





- Carefully raise headliner over edge of upper B-pillar trim - arrow 2 -.

- If present, lower headliner until retaining bracket - 2 - for rear interior light/reading light electrical wire - 1 - can be unclipped.





- Lower headliner on left side of vehicle - arrow 1 -.





- Pull headliner out through rear lid opening - arrow 2 -.

Installation

• Threaded holes on roof grab handle and sun visors must be cleaned of all locking compound residues after removing. Otherwise, new screws could lock up when installed and shear off when removed again.

• They can be cleaned with a thread cutter.

• Replace self-locking screws.

- Install the frame for the rear glass panel into the roof opening.

- Position headliner on right upper B-pillar trim.

- Carefully raise headliner over left B-pillar trim.

- Align headliner.

- Press rear glass roof opening mounting frame onto headliner.

- Press front sunroof opening mounting frame onto headliner.

- Install sealing lip of rubber seal on all door cut-outs with (3409) over headliner edge.

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following:

- Install D-pillar trim. Refer to => [ D-Pillar Trim ] D-Pillar Trim.

- Install C-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper C-Pillar Trim ] Upper C-Pillar Trim.

- Install upper A-pillar trim on right and left. Refer to => [ Upper A-pillar Trim ] Upper A-pillar Trim.

- Install the driver seat.
