AFFECTED VEHICLES

CONDITION
^ The convertible top is inoperative, generally at the point where the convertible top frame cover flaps on the right and left have fully opened.

^ Any or all of the following DTCs may be stored:

^ DTC 02000 (Switch Position-Incorrect Signal).

^ DTC 03246 (Left Top Flap Sensor G596-Incorrect Signal).

^ DTC 03247 (Right Top Flap Sensor G597-Incorrect Signal).

Technical Background

A fault in the potentiometer in the cover flap motors sends an implausible signal to the convertible top control unit. The convertible top operation control unit stops the top operation when the cover flaps are fully open. These faults can be caused by flap adjustments that are out of specification or an adaptation function that is not completely performed.

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service

1. The adjustment of the convertible top, particularly the side flap adjustment, is critical for proper convertible top operation. Make certain that all top adjustments are in specification. Refer to the repair manual as well as to TSB 2015779 61 Convertible top adjustment options.

2. Check the adjustments and make any changes necessary to comply with the specifications.

3. Perform the adaptation for the flap motors in GFF.

4. Operate the convertible top completely 2 or 3 times to confirm repair.

Tip: When performing the side flap motor adaptation, it is imperative that a complete convertible top run be completed immediately after the initialization. Do not press the "done" button before doing so; otherwise, the adaptation will not be complete. This step is specified in the GFF test plan.
