Audio System - Cracking/Popping Noises

Vehicle Information

Popping noise through Bose speakers when starting vehicle (DTC 01042 Control Module not coded)

Condition

When the ignition is turned on, a cracking or popping noise is heard through the Bose sound system.

DTC 01042 (Control Module not coded) must be stored in the amplifier Addressword 47 Sound system.

Only the Bose (PR-Nr. 8RY) sound system is affected by this condition.

Technical Background

The Bose amplifier loses its coding.

Production Solution

Service

1. Recode addressword 47 Sound system through Guided Fault Finding by running the function test plan for the DTC or selecting the following:

GFF >> Go to >> Function / Component Selection >> Body (Rep.Gr. 01; 27; 50-97) >> Electrical equipment (Rep.Gr. 01; 27; 90-97) >> 01 On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems >> 47 Sound system Bose | J525 >> 47 Control module coding (RG.91)

2. Once the amplifier is properly recoded, the condition will be resolved and will not reoccur.
