Procedure 1
Selector Lever
Removing
• Selector lever in the "S" position.
- Remove the selector mechanism function unit. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Function Unit ] Shift Mechanism Function Unit.
- Remove the funnel - 1 - for the emergency release lever in the - direction of the arrow -.
- Disengage the electrical wire at the selector mechanism - arrow A -.
- Pry off both bearing shells - 1 - with a screwdriver.
- Remove the retainer plate - 2 - downward.
- Pry out both pins - 1 - with a screwdriver.
- Carefully pull the selector lever - 1 - slightly downward
- If necessary, press the emergency release lever - arrow - down so that the selector lever can be removed.
- Pry out the retaining pin - A - with a screwdriver.
- Remove the microswitch - B -.
• Two microswitches make up the transmission park selector switch (F305). Microswitch - B - is one of the two. The two microswitches create the signal that the electronic ignition key removal lock needs to release the key only when the selector lever is in the "P" position.
- Disengage the electrical wiring from tab - arrow C - and remove the microswitch from the selector mechanism.
- Remove selector lever - 1 - downward.
Installing
Install in reverse order, pay attention to the following:
• Lubricate the bearings and the sliding surfaces with poly lubricant (G 052 142 A2).
- Make sure the stop buffer fits correctly - 1 -.
- Install the selector lever - 1 - from underneath.
• Selector lever in the "S" position (as illustrated).
- Install the microswitch - B - into the selector lever and secure it with the retaining pin - A -.
• The microswitch must lie flush on all sides.
- Attach the electrical wire to the tab - arrow C -.
- Push both axial bearings - 2 - onto the selector lever - 1 -.
- Position both levers - 3 - on the selector lever.
- Slide the selector lever into the function unit housing. If necessary, push the emergency release lever - arrow - down to make it possible to install the selector lever.
- Push the pins - 1 - in on both sides.
• The pins - 1 - must fit into the lever - arrow -- A -.
- Press the new retainer plate - 2 - onto the rear axial bearing.
• Installed position: the angled end of the retainer plate faces toward the selector lever.
- Install both bearing shells - 1 -.
- Secure the electrical wire - arrows A - to the selector mechanism as illustrated.
- Make sure the microswitch - B - is installed correctly and is secure.
• The ignition key removal lock does not function correctly if the microswitch is not inserted correctly or properly secured.
- Install the funnel - 1 - for the emergency release lever opposite the - direction of the arrow -.
- Install the selector mechanism function unit. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Function Unit ] Shift Mechanism Function Unit.
