Selector Lever Knob

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)

Removing





- Move the selector lever into the "N" position.

• Both the selector lever knob and the boot are removed.

- Remove the frame for the selector lever boot - A - - arrows -.

- Secure the lock button in its pulled-out position with a cable tie - arrow -, as illustrated.





- Fold the selector lever boot - 1 - upward and over the selector lever knob - 2 -.





- Open the clamp - arrow - and remove both the selector lever knob and boot without touching the lock button.

Installing





• In order to install the selector lever knob, the lock button must be pulled out all the way and secured either with a cable tie - arrow - or with the assembly tool supplied with a new knob.

• If the lock button was not secured, do not pull it out from the knob using mechanical aids. Insert a compressed air nozzle to the bottom of the knob and then push the lock button out using compressed air.

- Install the selector lever knob all the way onto the selector lever - make sure the lock button faces the driver.

• When doing this, the knob must engage into the ring groove of the selector lever.

- Remove the cable tie or assembly aid, the lock button mechanism engages in the vertical groove on the selector lever.

- If necessary, press the lock button back into the selector lever knob.

- Clamp the knob - 2 - to the selector lever, using a new clamp - arrow -. Use the (V.A.G 1275).





- Install the selector lever boot frame - 1 - in the center console.
