Shift Interlock Solenoid: Service and Repair






Shift Lock Solenoid (N110)

Removing





- Remove the frame with the multimedia system control head (E380) - 1 -.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.





- Remove the noise insulation - 2 - from the shift housing.

- Remove the front ashtray/front storage compartment.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and - 1 - from the center console bracket.





- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.





- Remove the four bolts - arrows -.

- Remove the four bolts - arrows -.





To provide a better illustration, shown here without the center console bracket.

- Tip the selector mechanism function unit and remove the center console bracket.

- Press the emergency release lever - C - down and hold.





- Move the selector lever into the "S" position.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 - from the shift lock solenoid (N110).





When removing the magnets, lift them forward slightly so that the ball head - 2 - disengages from the operating lever - 1 -.

- Open the catches - arrow A - and remove the shift lock solenoid forward - arrow B -.





Installing





Selector lever in the "S" position.

- Unclip the funnel for the emergency release lever in the - direction of the arrow -.

- Pull the emergency release lever - arrow - upward.





The operating lever - 1 - for the shift lock solenoid moves into its installed position when the emergency release lever is pulled up.





- At the same time, position the shift lock solenoid into the guide at an angle.

- Push the shift lock solenoid into the guide until it clicks.

The ball head - 2 - on the shift lock solenoid must fit into the operating lever on the selector mechanism.

- Connect the connector - 1 -.





Perform a Functionality Test on the Shift Lock Solenoid.





- Connect the connector - 1 -.

- Connect the connector - 1 -.





- Perform a functionality test on the shift lock solenoids when the selector lever is in the "P" and "N" positions. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Function Test ] Selector Mechanism Function Test.

Further installation is done in reverse order of removal, similar to installation of the selector mechanism function unit => [ Shift Mechanism Function Unit ] Shift Mechanism Function Unit.
