Affected Vehicles





Condition

^ MIL on.

^ Glow plug light illuminated.

^ Particle filter symbol displayed in instrument cluster.

^ Engine goes into limp mode.

^ DTC P2002 for diesel particulate filter malfunction is stored in the ECM data memory.

Technical Background





The two 0.35 mm� wires (pin 2, grey/white; and pin 3, red/grey) on the connector to the differential pressure sensor have excess contact resistance.

Production Solution

Change to enlarged (0.5 mm�) wires with gold-plated contacts.

Service

1. Remove plastic connector from differential pressure sensor.

2. Remove connector skirt from connector.

3. Remove connector lock.





4. Remove pin 3 from the connector.

5. Cut wire from pin 3 approximately 60 mm from the plastic connector.





6. Replace the 0.35 mm� wire with a 0.5 mm� wire with a gold-plated connector using a seal and butt connector.

7. Install wire, pin, and seal into plastic connector using the tools included in the VAS 1978 kit.

8. Repeat steps 4-7 for pin 2, cutting wire approximately 85 mm from the connector.

9. Reinstall connector lock.

10. Reinstall wire sheath.

11. Reinstall connector skirt and plug plastic connector into DPF pressure sensor.
