Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Socket and key (T40031)
Procedure
• Tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable and Locking Cable Assembly Overview ] Selector Lever Cable and Locking Cable Assembly Overview.
- Remove selector mechanism cover. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Cover ] Selector Mechanism Cover.
- Place selector lever in position "D".
- Loosen rear clamping screw on selector lever cable through the hole in shift mechanism approximately one turn using socket and key (T40031).
• Loosen the clamping screw approximately one turn - do not remove it.
• Clamping screw is only accessible in selector lever position " D".
• Selector lever must remain in position "D" while clamping screw is loose.
- Insert the socket insert (T40031) into the hole in the selector mechanism.
- Carefully move selector lever forwards and backwards slightly without shifting to a different selector lever position.
- Move selector lever into tiptronic gate.
• Do not touch selector lever during the adjustment.
- In this position, tighten the clamping screw with the socket and key (T40031).
- Install cover for shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Cover ] Selector Mechanism Cover.
- Check shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] Procedures.
• Using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051 A), the position of Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch (F125) can be compared to position on selector lever via On Board Diagnostic (OBD), 02 - Automatic Transmission, 08 - Read measured value block, display group 4 in display field - 3 -.
If shift mechanism does not function properly after adjusting selector lever cable:
- Bring selector lever cable into basic setting. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Bringing into Basic Setting ] Selector Lever Cable, Bringing Into Basic Setting.
