Engine - Intake Air Duct Loose/Noise From Intake Area

Affected Vehicles

24 Intake air duct loose, noises from air intake area

Condition





- Noise coming from the air intake area.

- The air intake pipe cover is loose.

Technical Background

The clamping force of the cover is insufficient. The cover of the air intake may become loose and lead to increase noise.

Production Solution

Optimized clamping force and additional attachment for cover.

Service

Install two additional retaining bolts in the air intake as directed below.

1. Remove the complete air intake. Detach the front bolts on the lock carrier (Figure 1, 1) and the clip on the air duct (Figure 1, arrow).

2. Drill a 2 mm hole on the two locations marked with arrows in Figure 2. (Figure 2 shows the bolts already installed.)

3. Position the metal clips in the interior of the air intake assembly, as depicted by the arrows in Figure 3.

4. Install the bolts while holding the metal clip with pliers.

5. Reinstall the complete air intake assembly.
