Interior - Center Console Trim is Loose

Affected Vehicles

68 Center console trim loose

Condition





The trim on either side of the center console is loose.

Technical Background

The retaining force of the rear-most clip is insufficient.

Production Solution

Clip length extended by 2 mm (In preparation).

Service

Do not replace the center console side trim, rear center console or clips for this condition. Modify the clip receptacles on the rear center console as follows:

Tip: Both sides should be modified even if only one side is loose.

1. Figure 1 shows the location of the clip receptacle.

2. Modify the edges of the clip receptacle indicated in illustration 2 by filing the inner edges to an approximate angle of 45 degrees (see yellow arrows, illustration 2).

3. The clip can now securely engage the receptacle.
