Timing Chain: Service and Repair
Chain Sprocket
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Press Tube (30 - 100)
• Thrust Piece (40 - 105)
• Two-arm puller, commercially available
• Protective gloves
Removing
- Remove oil pan with oil pump. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] Oil Pan.
- Remove front sealing flange. Refer to => [ Front Sealing Flange ] Front Sealing Flange.
- Pull off crankshaft chain sprocket with claw puller - 2 - for example Kukko 44-1, while protecting end of crankshaft with the (40 - 105).
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Wear protective gloves!
- Heat up the chain sprocket in an oven for approximately 15 minutes at 220 °C (428 °F).
• Installation position: Wider shoulder of chain sprocket faces toward engine.
- Using pliers, install chain sprocket on crankshaft end and slide onto crankshaft to stop using the (30 - 100).
- Install oil pan with oil pump. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] Oil Pan.
