Technical Background

The BOSE amplifier loses its coding.

Production Solution

New software in the BOSE amplifier control module (J525) resolves the problem.

Service

1. Coupe: Recode addressword 47 - Sound system through Guided Fault Finding by running the function test plan for the DTCs or selecting the following:

GFF >> Go to >> Function / Component Selection >> Body (Rep.Gr. 01; 27; 50-97) >> Electrical equipment (Rep.Gr. 01; 27; 90-97) >> 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems >> 47 - Sound system Bose | J525 >> 47 Control module coding (RG.91)

2. Roadster: Recode addressword 47 Sound system. Use code 236126.

3. After recoding, check the software part number and software level in the BOSE amplifier control module (J525).

4. Prior to beginning the SVM process, insert a USB memory stick into the VAS 505X tester to capture the diagnostic log electronically.

5. Update the BOSE amplifier control module (J525) using SVM action code as listed in the table below if necessary. The SVM code is 8J47A001.

Tip: The SVM Process must be completed in its entirety so the database receives the update confirmation response. A warranty claim may not be reimbursed if there is no confirmation response to support the claim.

For further SVM update instructions and troubleshooting, please refer to the TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
